The mighty ‘Roland Garros Stadium’, named after a French war hero aviator from World War I is the only tennis stadium hosting a Grand Slam event that’s not named after tennis great. It was built back in 1928 and has been the home of the French Open since it’s inception as the ‘French Internationals’ in 1925. French tennis players held sway on the world stage in the interwar years winning the Davis cup for five years straight beating the Americans time and time again on their home soil. The Hot and Spicy Food Festivals of that time went from strength to strength and in 2003 they were reinvented as the Noosa International Food & Wine Festival. Queensland’s Sunshine Coast is a stretch of beautiful surf coastline north of Brisbane with Noosa, the jewel in the crown being only 130 kilometers, a comfortable drive of around one and a half hours north of Brisbane. The Sunshine Coast has a...

In 2011 American singer-songwriter Ben Harper said that Bluesfest had no equal anywhere in the world, and the same year legend Bob Dylan told the organizers that he loved performing at the festival so much that he wanted to come back the next year and play every night. The Byron Bay Bluesfest is now in it’s 26th year and is an award winning arts and tourism event. After a couple of changes of location, the festival now has it’s own 120-hecatare site at Tyagarah just north of Byron Bay where the proceedings take a decidedly festive note and the artists perform under...
