Quick Facts:
Koh Samui is Thailand’s second largest Island, and has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia.
Koh Translates to ‘Island’ in Thai. The actual island size is 228.7 sq. km
Samui was first inhabited about 15 centuries ago and come upon by backpackers in the 1970’s. Much of the island remains covered by lush tropical rain-forest and coconut plantations. It is part of the Ang Thong (Golden Bowl) Marine National Park which encompasses 80 mostly uninhabited islands.
Despite its recent development, Samui still maintains the feel of a tropical beach island with an incredible variety of tranquil beaches and bays around the island.
